Clothes and accessories, roupas e acessórios em inglês, compõem um campo semântico extenso na língua inglesa e fazem parte do grupo de substantivos concretos, isto é, representam coisas que estão no mundo real, tendo como objetivo primeiro vestir as pessoas|1|. A temática de clothes and accessories concretiza-se em diferentes figuras (palavras), variando de cultura para cultura.
As vestimentas que as pessoas usam variam culturalmente por causa de diferentes fatores, incluindo motivações estéticas, climáticas, profissionais, de gênero, sociais, entre outras. Assim, entende-se a grande variedade de elementos que podem compor um guarda-roupa, por exemplo. Acrescenta-se que, na língua inglesa, o vocabulário de clothes and accessories tem aspectos que se diferenciam da língua portuguesa, como ocorre com o verbo “usar”. Em inglês, não podemos empregar o verbo “use”, devemos sempre empregar “wear” (vestir-se). Consequentemente, é preciso estar atento ao estudar o tema de clothes and accessories.

Observe que na lista existem algumas palavras que estão no plural, pois elas costumam vir em pares — por exemplo, shoes = sapatos. Mas não se esqueça de que, nesse caso e das outras palavras plurais da lista, nós também temos a forma singular delas (shoe, slipper, boot, sock).

Lembre-se de que, em inglês, os verbos usar/vestir do português são traduzidos pelo verbo wear.
TIP: Levando em consideração o vocabulário estudado, uma boa dica para aprender essas palavras e outras de seu interesse é criar um pictionary (dicionário de imagens) sobre as clothes and accessories que você mais usa no seu dia a dia.

NFL Supports Fight Against Breast Cancer
The National Football League (NFL) is joining the American Cancer Society (ACS) to raise awareness about the importance of breast screenings and to raise money to help fight breast cancer.
NFL players, coaches and referees will wear pink during the month of October to remind women about the importance of getting mammograms and clinical breast exams to find breast cancer early, when it’s easier to treat. The program, A Crucial Catch: Annual Screening Saves Lives, is timed to coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The American Cancer Society recommends women 40 and older have a mammogram and clinical breast exam every year, and younger women have clinical breast exams periodically as well.
